• First we set up an ultra-low debit rate for your business (e.g. .95% flat)

• Then we incentivize your customers to pay with their debit card (instead of their credit card) by informing them, through high quality 4x6 inch signs (one at your entrance and one at the place of check-out), that all of your prices already contain a 3.5% discount for those paying with cash or debit.

• If your customers choose to pay with a credit card they will not receive the discount and a 3.5% Non-Cash/Debit Adjustment will be added as a line item on the receipt.

• The receipt clearly breaks down sales, Non-Cash/Debit Adjustment, and tip when necessary.

• No processing fees are deducted for credit cards.

• You only pay one very low flat rate for debit cards,

• SpotOn uses the 3.5% Non-Cash/Debit Adjustment to cover interchange costs, authorization costs, transaction costs, and support.

• SpotOn will provide signage to be placed at point of entry and the point of transaction (your register) in-store and a disclaimer in the case of online stores.

Yes. The Durbin Amendment does not allow any payment card network (like Mastercard or Visa) to inhibit a merchant’s ability to implement a cash or debit discount. Payment Card Interchange Fee & Merchant Discount Antitrust Litigation as well as the passing of laws such as The Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform and The Consumer Protection Act have given the power to merchants in all 50 states to implement Cash Discount programs in their brick and mortar locations as well as their online locations. Cash Discounting is now accepted nationwide.
